Baldelli Watch Part 2

Rocco was on tonight's FSN Florida telecast of the Rays/Indians game. He is currently in Tampa Bay and watched the game from the dugout. He also was sporting a very lumberjack-esque beard, I don't know if he is aware, but the lumberjacks in Tampa Bay play for a team called the Lightning. Sadly though, his epic beard will be gone soon as his mother does not approve (I promise I'm not making that up) and she wants him to take himself more seriously (or some mother-like comment of that sort).

A decision is coming soon, Rays manager Joe Maddon says that he will talk to Executive Vice President Andrew Friedman and there will be a decision made.

As readers of this blog know, I want to see Baldelli play for the Rays again, and I sincerely hope he finishes out his career with Tampa Bay.

I have been reading a lot of message boards recently and looking at comments on Rocco, there is a distinct rift between those of us who have loved the Rays for years and the dreaded bandwagoners. For those not in "the know" I hate bandwagoners with a passion. They are the most gutless fans in sports. There's no devotion, only cheering when convenient. Now I'm not talking about when you're a little kid and you pick your favorite team based on who the champions are, that's the innocence of youth and most of those kids I've met have stuck it out with their teams. What I am referring to are those who either live in a city with a team and do no support them until they become successful or those who cheer for a team just because it's the "in" thing to do (see: Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs bros). Those people are the "Jersey Boys" of fans. You're all douchebags and I don't take your fandom seriously. end rant. Getting back to what I was meaning to type, those who are not bandwagoners see what Rocco has gone through and remember back when he was the future of the team and hope the team resigns him in the off season. Meanwhile those who have jumped into Rays Republic and understand nothing think we should dump him in the off season. I'm quite sure for you people there is a special section of Hell.

In other Rays related comments, did anyone see the injury suffered by Jason Bartlett on his bunt attempt in the 10th? The pitch hit his hand on a bunt attempt and split a fingernail. Now while it isn't like a torn ligament, a split fingernail might be one of those injuries that just makes you cringe when thought about. Oh also, Shawn Riggans got pegged in the chest on the next pitch, but it's no split fingernail! Thank God Riggans wasn't hurt in all seriousness though.

I split a fingernail in a batting cage once. That freakin' hurts.
